Time Tracking

All the time you spend on a task gets saved as a logged hours entry. You'll use these to create your invoices later.

Timer

Start it with the ▶ button next to a task on the Today tab, in the daily overview, or in the task detail. While it's running, you'll see it in the top bar, and clicking it takes you back to the task. If you start another one, frego will ask whether to stop the others or add the task as a parallel one.

Manual entry

Forgot to start the timer? No worries. Open the task, go to the Your time tab, and click +. Enter the Start, End, and a note if you like. You can also edit or delete the entry here.

Actual vs. billable time

Every entry has two times:

  • Duration – how long you actually worked.
  • Billable time – how much of that you actually invoice. In the task detail, click the value in the Billable time column and change it using the HH:MM:SS format.

If you don't set a billable time, the whole duration gets invoiced.

Hours overview

You'll find all your entries under Hours. You can filter by client, project, date, and status: Not invoiced, Invoiced, Written off, or All. From here you can create an invoice, make an Excel export or, with PRO, generate a PDF Work Report for your client.

Written-off hours

Some hours you'll never invoice, for example if you and the client didn't agree on them. Select them and click Write off. They'll disappear from the hours waiting to be invoiced, but they won't be deleted. Use the Restore button to bring them back anytime.

Writing off hours needs PRO. Restoring them always works, even without PRO.

Tip

When showing the app to a client, press H. Instead of the actual time, they'll only see the billable time. More in the article Screen Sharing Mode.
