A client is the company or person you're working for. Every project belongs to a client, so that's where you start.
New client
- Open Clients and click Add client.
- Enter the client's name and, if you like, a short description for yourself.
- Fill in the Billing details – company name, address, business ID, tax ID, VAT ID, and currency. These are used as the recipient on invoices. If needed, a client can have more than one set.
- Click Save client.
Active and inactive client
If you're not currently working for a client, switch off the Active toggle. Nothing gets deleted. The client and their projects just disappear from the dropdowns for tasks, hours, and invoices. They stay in your client list, and you can switch them back on anytime.
FREE plan limit
On FREE, you can have 2 active clients at a time. Inactive ones don't count. You can see how many you have in the client list as Active clients: 1 / 2.
When you try to add or activate a third one, frego will let you know. You can either:
- deactivate a client you're no longer working with, or
- upgrade to PRO, where you get unlimited clients.
You can always deactivate, edit, or delete clients. If you have more active clients left over from PRO or a trial, nothing gets switched off automatically – you keep working with them as usual. You'll just need to get back under the limit before adding a new one.
A client is required
You can't create a project without a client. If you're working on your own stuff, set up a client with your own name or your company name. More in the article Projects and team.
TipYou can also create a client right while planning a task, just press C – no need to go elsewhere for it.
