Two-factor authentication protects your account even if someone learns your password or gets into your Google account.
How to turn it on
- Install an authenticator app on your phone, for example Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password.
- Open Security and click Turn on.
- Scan the QR code with the app (or type the key in by hand) and enter the 6-digit code it shows.
- Save your recovery codes. They are shown only once.
Signing in
After you enter your password (or sign in with Google), frego asks for the code from your app. If you tick Trust this device for 30 days, it will not ask for a code in this browser for 30 days.
Recovery codes
If you do not have your phone with you, sign in with one of the recovery codes. Each one works only once. You can generate new codes in Security. You can also remove all trusted devices there.
I lost my phone and my codes
Write to support. After we verify your identity, we will turn 2FA off and you can turn it on again.
E-mail alerts
When someone signs in to your account from a browser we have not seen before, we send you an e-mail. These security e-mails cannot be turned off.
